Artemis III is a demonstration mission in low Earth orbit, planned for 2027. The SLS rocket will launch the Orion spacecraft with a crew of four astronauts (Randy Bresnik, Luca Parmitano, Andre Douglas, and Frank Rubio) from Kennedy Space Center. The mission aims to demonstrate for the first time rendezvous and docking capabilities with test versions of the commercial human landing systems developed by Blue Origin and SpaceX. This mission is essential to prepare for Artemis IV, the first crewed mission to the lunar South Pole, planned for 2028.
